The Pioneer Mine project is located about 12 miles south of Globe, Arizona, on the south slope of the Pinal mountains in the Pioneer Mining District of Gila County.
Access is gained by a secondary road which connects with Highway 77 about 14 miles to the southeast and with Globe about the same distance to the North. With an elevation of about 4,500 feet above sea level, the climate is good with mild winters and cool summers. The surrounding valley is covered by mostly brush-covered slopes and steep ridges, with a relief of several hundred feet.
